On February 10-12, 2012, the Green Living Alliance of Boca Raton is working with the Allianz Championship Golf Tournament to build a Green Team for the final 3 rounds of golf at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton. This is an official PGA Champions Tour event taking place here in our hometown. All proceeds go to the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. One of the golf tournament goals is zero waste – no garbage generated by the tournament will end up in a landfill. They want to be the greenest golf event in the country. We, as a dedicated corps of green volunteers, want to help them attain that goal. We are putting together a green team that will monitor the 16th and 18th holes and the hospitality tents to assist attendees with their recycling efforts. As a Green Team volunteer, you will be provided with a special tournament t-shirt and hat/visor. We are initially setting up 2 shifts, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm and 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm on each day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We need 25 volunteers for each shift. Volunteers must be of high school age or older. We will be providing community service hours for those students who want them. We welcome all adults who want to help out.
