Academies Overview

An academy is a school within a school that connects the core academic subjects with a particular field of study. An academy offers a career path sequence that will prepare students to achieve high academic standards and superior work skills. Our four academies will feature college dual enrollment and real world exposure from professionals in the field. Internships, mentoring, on the job training, and extensive partnerships with businesses and industry will be offered. The academies are not required, but available choices for all West Boca students.

Perrin, We are proud to announce that the Drafting and Design Academy of West Boca High has earned a National Academy Model Designation from the National Career Academy Coalition. This is the 3rd National Model Academy for West Boca High!

The Palm Beach County School District has received notice that West Boca Raton High School's CAAB (Community Academies Advisory Board) Chairman J.C. Perrin was selected to receive the prestigious 2010 ACTE (Association for Career & Technical Education) Carl Perkins Outstanding Service Award.  Mr. Perrin will be presented with this National Award during the General Session at the ACTE Convention on Friday, December 3, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The purpose of the Carl Perkins Outstanding Service Award is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education. This award was established in honor of the late Rep. Carl Perkins, a pioneer in the field, and is designed to recognize individuals who have demonstrated the same humanitarian concerns exemplified by Rep. Perkins. We are so proud of the contributions Mr. Perrin has made to the Academies of West Boca Raton Community High School and congratulate him on this honor.
