Academy Coordinator Susan C. Bantang has worked in the field of career education in New Jersey and Florida for the past 30 years. She has served as a teacher, media specialist, public relations specialist and guidance counselor. In 2005, Mrs. Bantang was the first educator to be named “Person of the Year” by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. The School District of Palm Beach County recognized her as the 2007 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Academy Coordinator of the Year. Her article on West Boca Raton Community High School’s award-winning Culinary Arts Academy, “A Cook’s Tour: The Journey To Become A Model Culinary Arts Academy,” was published in the March 2007 issue of Techniques, the professional journal of the Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE). Through her coordination, West Boca Raton High has earned three “National Model Academy” designations by the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC): Culinary Arts, Drafting & Design and Medical Sciences. Recently, Mrs. Bantang was named President of the new and emerging Career Academy Division of the Florida Association for Career and Technical Education (FACTE). Mrs. Bantang also serves on the School Reform Committee of the Guidance and Career Development Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
